Community Guidelines and Terms
Last updated October 10, 2026
Nest is for the people you live with. By using Nest, you agree to these guidelines and terms. There's no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior.
Be decent
- No harassment, bullying, threats, or hate based on who someone is.
- No sexual content, and nothing that sexualizes anyone.
- No sharing someone's private information, photos, or messages without their OK.
- No spam, scams, or selling anything illegal or against housing rules (including alcohol, drugs, and weapons).
- Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't claim a room that isn't yours.
- Follow UT housing rules and the Student Code of Conduct. Nest doesn't change them.
Report and block
Press and hold any message or post to report it. Your RA reviews reports from your floor and can take content down. To stop seeing someone, open their profile and tap Block. Blocked people's messages, posts, and plans are hidden from you.
What happens when guidelines are broken
RAs and housing coordinators can remove content, take away posting on the board, or remove RA access. We review reports within 24 hours and remove accounts that break these guidelines. Anything that may be a crime or a safety risk can be shared with UT Police or housing staff.
Safety
Nest isn't an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911. The Help button in the app has UT Police, your front desk, and confidential support.
Terms
- You must be a UT Knoxville student living on campus or housing staff, and use your own UT email.
- You're responsible for what you post. You give Nest permission to store and show it to the people it's meant for.
- Nest is a pilot and is provided as is. Features may change, and the service may sometimes be unavailable.
- You can stop using Nest and delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these guidelines.
